3 Part Technique - It is essential for the opponent's back to be on the mat before passing, so force Over Under Control to establish this. Pull the Over Hook high to create the space needed for your knee. Use your knee to press down on the opponent's half guard to pass. If the opponent wins the Under Hook in Half Guard, push his shoulder down while posturing to open up space to pummel.

AWESOME explanation, however when he goes through the check list he states that he wants to make sure " his shoulders are in line with opponents shoulders". To me it looks like he is off to the side of his opponent, so not sure how this means his shoulders are in line with opponents shoulders?

great instruction! excellent details, especially why not to place your instep on the inside of your opponent's leg. such a common pass which even i do, valuable to know why i should consider dropping that method of passing half-guard.
