2 Part Technique - In this lesson, Paul outlines the aspects of obtaining and maintaining the mount position. Ideally, your knees should occupy the space underneath your opponent's armpits; for one, it prevents him from hiding his arms away from attack. And two, it ensures that your hips are not susceptible to being bumped up from his bridge. Gaining this involves starting from proper Underhook & Head Control from Sides Control. On the nearside, use your knee to scoop up his arm onto your lap, and clear the other side with your underhook, walking your hand along the mat. Bring your knee high up, close by his shoulder to avoid getting your foot captured as you step over. If you fear he will catch your heel in his guard, hook onto his nearside hip as you drive your knee over his belly, stretching him out and opening up the farside space. Touch down your foot by slapping the mat, and quickly retracting it away from his legs to establish the mount position.

My daughter and I have drilling this technique for almost a week now. I have one question. When she brings her knee up and over, should she apply pressure with her shin on my stomach or shoulder?
