2 Part Technique - You have to have the attitude that when battling in the hand fight from your butterfly, you are going to make your grips first. If you don't and your opponent sets his hands on your gi, immediately work to strip them off. If he doesn't reciprocate back by breaking your grips, strengthen your control over his upper body and initiate with a sweep: If you break off his collar grip, cross his arm and hit the Cross Arm & Belt Sweep. If you break off his grips on your pants, hold onto one sleeve and grab his collar for the Hook Sweep.
