Bridge Escape vs Side Control
Marcelo neutralizes a dominant landing against a Double-Leg Take-Down: If your opponent manages to take you down to the ground and bypasses your legs, immediately look to apply a set of foream frames against their upper body and prevent them from connecting chest-to-chest with Under-Hook & Head-Control. Raise your knees up beside your opponent's far-side to help block them from directly acheiving the Full-Mount position; this will also help prime your legs for a strong bridging mechanic into the floor. Drive your feet into the ground and lift your hips up so that your opponent must adjust their upper body alignment relative to your head and shoulders. Using the space you've created from the bump, extend your elbows into a locked out position that will help maintain a structural gap for your legs to recover back inside. Before your opponent has a moment to redirect your long arm frames, quickly find the room to insert your near-side knee in between your bodies so that you may square up your centerlines. Place your opposite foot on the mat or your opponent's hip to escape back into the Closed-Guard.
