2-Part Advanced Lesson -- Marcelo & Josh demonstrate how to counter your opponent's defensive measures from the Back and advance towards a finish: When you've captured your opponent's Back with Seatbelt-Control and both Back-Hooks set, they will most likely attempt an escape towards your so-called Weak-Side, i.e. the side of your under-hooking arm; take your hook out on that side and post your toes onto the mat so you can then push and drive your opponent onto the opposite side. If your opponent attempts to roll back towards the Weak-Side by bridging, set your foot behind their knee as a Crab-Hook, and effectively perform a kick that returns you both onto the Strong-Side, i.e. your overhooked choking-arm. Throw your foot in between your opponent's thighs, accompanying your other Back-Hook for a Full Rear-Mount Control over their hips and look to apply the Rear-Naked Choke. [1:32] Outnumber your opponent's defenses by pushing their top-side arm down towards your legs with 1-on-1 Wrist-Control and capture it with behind your top-side Back-Hook; secure the Arm-Trap by slipping your top-side hand out as you clamp your heel down against their belly. Scrape off your opponent's remaining hand from your choking-arm by palming your free top-side hand against their grip and immediately look to lock up a Fig.-4 Finish. If you cannot bring your choking-forearm completely across your opponent's throat onto the top-side of their neck, simply clamp your palms together using a Gable-Grip and apply a Short-Choke to get the tap-out.
