Balloon Sweep from Open Guard
2 Part Lesson — Paul executes a Sweep from Open Guard: [I] When your opponent successfully stands up to break your Closed Guard, immediately prepare to play an Open Guard before she has a chance to connect with a Pass. Opt for Collar & Sleeve Control/Guard (Classic Open Guard, Tripod Guard, et al.); place your foot on her hip and allow your other leg to freely play against the far arm (chest, shoulder, or biceps -- like a Spider Hook without the Sleeve Grip). Work to keep your opponent in position by pummeling your foot whenever she tries to gain control over your leg. If she grabs your toes and tries to stuff your foot in between her legs, use the energy to post off of the mat and hip escape away back to freedom. If she extracts your other foot off of her hip and begins pinning your leg with her lead knee, keep your leg upright and strong until you can find a home back on the hip. [II] When you feel the opponent pressure inward against your Foot-On-The-Hip, this signals you to trigger the Overhead Sweep (Tomoegaeshi, Raspagem Balão, Balloon Sweep, etc.). Pull the opponent's hips onto both feet and send them over your shoulder into a Forward Roll. Guide her over the correct shoulder, i.e. the side in which you maintain control over her sleeve, so that you avoid a counter-post. Perform a Backward Roll over your shoulder landing in the Mount, and maintain the top position.
