Backstep Pass vs Reverse Half with Underhook, Backstep Pass vs Reverse Half with Reverse Underhook Control
2 Part Lesson — Marcelo shows two forms of Underhook to execute the Back Step Pass: [I] If your opponent jumps for Half Guard, avoid letting him grab your outside leg for Deep Half by switching your base with The Backstep. Land heavily with your hips on the opposite side and look to claim the Underhook for the Backstep Pass versus Half Guard. [II] If you realize that the traditional pass is ineffective because you cannot secure the Underhook, replace your arm with the other for a Reverse Underhook. Make a high grip on the opponent's back, forcing his arm up with your elbow, and kick yourself free with the Backstep Pass, settling in North/South.
