Counter vs Lockdown
2 Part Lesson — Marcelo bypasses the Lockdown: [I] If your opponent looks to entangle your leg inside of his Half Guard with the Nijugarami or Lockdown, immediately draw your heel away from his feet to avoid the grapevine. If it is locked on and your opponent reaches under your base for deeper attack, swing your leg across his body to the Reverse Half Guard and claim an Underhook to pass out of the lock. [II] If your opponent begins to rise from the mat while underneath your base with the Lockdown on, push his head to help bring your leg over to the Reverse Half side. If you cannot find the Farside Underhook from Reverse Half, spin your shoulders around to face the opponent from the opposite direction and look for the Backstep Pass.
