2 Part Technique - Despite having capitalized on the exposure of the back with Seatbelt Control, Marcelo's opponent suddenly rolls to his back from the Turtle Position for an escape attempt. It is important to follow the roll tightly, with your chest flush against the center of his upper back, even insomuch as to sit up when he rolls back onto his knees for Reverse Side Control. Before he can lock a hold around your knees, use your feet to press off of the mat and pull him back on top of you while holding the Seatbelt. This detail is so crucial, Marcelo insists his students drill it repeatedly to ensure it is integrated into their games. Once pulled back, belly-down with your legs whipping away from any form of guard retention, and sit him up to set your hooks for a more stable control.
