1 Part Lesson -- Marcelo teaches his students what to do after they have done the leg over pass vs half guard, but find themselves without the space to pummel for the underhook. The first thing you must do is immediately spin towards the legs and pummel for the underhook on the far side. Secure your position and use the underhook to keep your opponent from coming on top or pulling you on top of him. Move your hip away and use your outside leg to kick yourself free of the half guard, until you can establish side control. If, after you spin towards the legs, you again find yourself without space to pummel for the far side underhook, jump back over to a regular half guard position and, during this transition, pummel for the underhook on the side you just were. From there, continue with your regular head and arm control and half guard pass.
