3 Part Technique - The lesson here is that when you decide to pull guard, you need to do so with a strong, dry control so that you can (1) legally keep the fight on the ground, and (2) possibly set-up your opponent for 1Leg X when he tries to flee. 2on1 from Standing is one such control that will allow you to accomplish these tasks. The idea here is to make him resist back so strongly, that he unwittingly plants his lead leg within range of an Ankle Kick or Single Leg Control. Technically, you must hold onto your opponent from the mat long enough for the referee to decide that your Guard Pull from Standing was a legal action. If your opponent purposely avoids the hand fight to protect his elbows from your 2on1, seek out his fingers for an Interlaced Handlock Control. Rather than using the handlocks to bully your opponent in a mercy game of Pinochle, use the Interlaced Fingers to drag him to the mat.
