Americana from Side Control, Straight Armbar from Side Control, Far Side Armbar from Side Control
3 Part Technique - Switching to the scarf-hold position when the opponent keeps his arms retracted in a defensive posture offers up the opportunity to seize his far arm in the a figure-four lock for the Americana shoulder-lock. Switch your hips back, keeping heavy on his nearside shoulder, and exert pressure for the tap by anchoring your elbow to the mat while lifting his elbow as you drag his hand toward his feet. If he attempts to flee the Americana by extending his arm out away from his body, maintain the figure-four grips on his wrist and drop weight onto his forearm using your own as a fulcrum for the straight armbar. Lastly, if he tries to escape this hold by bringing his arm down by his hip, immediately capture the farside underhook and look to finish with the armbar.
