2 Part Technique - Proper attention to hand fighting will lead to ideal grips and control to set up for a takedown. Fight for a grip on his collar and a grip on his wrist. Yank down on his collar to force the opponent to react by opening up the space to his legs so you can attack the single leg. With the leg in hand and your head on the inside, hike his knee to floor and finish by running the pipe. If the opponent grabs your collar, preventing you from closing the distance on your single leg shot, use both hands to remove his grip and resume your original controls for the single leg set-up. When running the pipe fails to take the opponent down, switch strategies and finish with the double leg instead.
