Marcelo briefly demonstrates for Josh a critical connection between sweeping and passing: When arriving on top after executing a sweep againt your opponent, it is important to smoothly convert your momentum directly into a consolidating pressure without stopping, especially when your sweep bypasses their legs in some way; e.g., after rising up from Partial-X (a.k.a. Velvet-Guard, Half Leg-X, Reverse Y-Guard, et al.), drop your shoulder onto your opponent's belly and drive your weight forward using active toes as you circumvent your opponent's legs. Utilize your control over your opponent's sleeve and/or wrist to help steer your opponent's defensive frames away from your oncoming coverage as you come up so that you don't end up encountering their guard head-on.
