When trying to pass your opponent's guard, raise the pace and caught your breath once you've closed the distance somewhat and make headway towards solidifying top control. When escaping a bad position, you must not over exert yourself in spurts; find a timing that you can endure but also make progress in defense. Practice taking different volumes of breath when rolling with your partners and cultivate a sense of when to change things based on the state of your position.
