Guillotine Escape
2 Part Lesson — Paul espouses the proper reaction and defense to the Standing Guillotine Choke: [I] Paradoxically, place your head in deeper, so that you can step inward and wrap around the opponent's shoulder, opposite of the side your head is under their arm. Step aside the opponent's leg and shuffle them down to the mat after having broken their posture by hanging on the shoulder. Adjust your arm around the opponent's neck as you fight to break their grip and take the Side Control. [II] Make sure to fall down on the side opposite of your head caught inside the Guillotine. Post against the opponent's knee with your hand if they won't allow you to step around to the side for the takedown.
