Breaking Gi Grips from Butterfly → Elbow Control Armbar from Butterfly → Omoplata from Elbow Control Armbar
3 Part Lesson — Watch the lesson Marcelo had planned after his April Fools Day joke last week: Marcelo teaches his Advanced II Class how to properly perform a powerful and fast submission known on MGInAction as the "Elbow Control Armbar" from Butterfly Guard. The key details responsible for its success are elevating your hips, firmly cupping behind the elbow joint, and pinching your opponent's hand flat against your side with your own elbow. [I] Break your opponent's grip from your collar as soon as he grabs it and feed his hand under your armpit, pinching it tightly with the wing of your arm. Place your feet on his hips to keep the distance and to help thrust into the finish. [II] If you can't break the grip and you have slack in your jacket available, feed his hand under your armpit while he is still holding the collar/lapel grip. If he turns his elbow out to the side, shift your hips around and drive laterally for the tap. [III] If he turns his elbow upward to avoid the first two angles of submission, switch to the Omoplata.
