Triangle Escape vs Closed Guard, Posture Escape vs Triangle Choke
3 Part Lesson — Marcelo demonstrates how to Defend against the Triangle after diving in with an Underhook for a Pass: [I] If your opponent grabs your wrist while it pins his knee down for the Underhook & Head Control Half Guard Pass, he may look to push your arm inside his guard and climb for a Triangle. Before he can walk his shoulders away to climb higher up on your neck, shimmy your shoulders forward until you can free your hand. [II] If your opponent pushes your hand out and away to lock on the Triangle, you can buy yourself time by overhooking his hip. Ideally, build a frame on his stomach that prevents him from crossing your arm across and begin building posture. Drive your knee into his side to prevent him from escaping his hip and wait for his legs to burn out to get out of danger. [III] If your opponent tries to undo your frame and posture, immediately reset your position until he gives up; if he breaks your framing grip, remake it. If he pushes your knee out of the way to hop over with his hip, drive it back in.
