3 Part Lesson — Marcelo incorporates some Nogi Judo into the Stand-Up: [I] One way to successfully finish the Kataguruma or Fireman's Carry, is to make the opponent fall over you, rather than lifting him up into the air. Employ this strategy by gaining wrist and head control, and then switching from his head to a strong Whizzer (or cupping the triceps). Hold his elbow tightly as you drop, duck under, and toss to Side Control. [II] Pinch his wrist in your armpit and use your head to keep him away from a tight underhook. If you feel your opponent stiff-arm in response to your hold on his triceps, parry it into another Whizzer and hit Haraigoshi. [III] When you commit to the throw, if it fails and he doesn't fly, face him again and start over. But if he posts with his free arm after the pummel and throw, latch onto the Front Headlock Position to Take the Back with Seatbelt Control.
