2 Part Lesson — Marcelo shows in his expert level class how to counterattack a Standing Pass caught with Half Guard: [I] After catching the opponent's trailing leg inside your Half Guard, prevent the oncoming Underhook & Head Control by framing against the opponent's near shoulder. After breaking his grip, before he makes his grip for the Crossface again, cross his arm over your chest, holding it by the sleeve and armpit for the Cross Arm Sweep from Half Guard. [II] If after breaking the Crossface with the Frame Escape, if you cannot readily cross his arm without extension, dive underneath his hips to pull him into Deep Half Guard. Use your hooks to help push his weight away from your shoulders and insert your hook for X-Guard. Once standing, knock his forearm as you trip his far heel for the Unbalance Sweep.
