Taking The Back from Closed Guard > Armbar from Back
1 Part Lesson -- Paul and Nick demonstrate a sneaky armbar attack that comes about when your opponent begins escaping your Back Control from the Turtle Position. Before your opponent has a chance to free his or her shoulder, maneuver your leg so that the Back-Hook retracts and goes across the far-hip; this will ensure that you can attack from Closed Guard rather than Half-Guard where the armlock is no longer an option. Use an Armdrag or simply keep your elbow tight to prevent the opponent from freeing his or her elbow back in front of your torso. When the shoulder is finally free, push the face and lock over the back of the head to take the Armbar from Closed Guard after the opponent's successful Back Escape.
