X Guard Entry, X Guard Sweep from X Guard, Ankle Trap Sweep from X Guard
2 Part Technique - The crux of this lesson isn't so much about a particular guard or technique, inasmuch as it is a call for emphasis on establishing the top position after a successful sweep. Too often will a sweep go to waste and not score for points because not enough attention or concern is put forth in stabilizing your opponent with heavy top pressure upon landing. This is especially true of sweeps that finish with a larger spatial separation between your chest and the chest of your opponent, as is the case with sweeps from the X-Guard. While assuming the X-Guard, capitalize on him making the mistake of facing into you and seize his wrist or sleeve. When you dump him onto his back, follow over him tightly and close the distance between your chests -preferably with a cradle. Focus on this follow-through even more so when you sweep him from Standing; Capture both ankles, and drive him back as you spring on top.
