2 Part Technique - Henrique shows how to break the Closed Guard, and pass the Open Guard from a technical base. Once his opponent's ankles uncross, he protects his hips from Open Guard attacks by holding his elbows close to his body and lowering his stance. This ready position will allow him to take the time necessary to plan out his pass and execute it without the threat of an immediate sweep. Henrique pins one leg to the mat with his body weight balanced through his extended arm, and cuts his cross knee through the Open Guard. The Knee Slide Pass is complete after he secures the top position with Underhook & Head Control from Side Control.
