Breaking the Closed Guard, Half Guard to Mount, Mount
2 Part Technique - Rather than looking to pass his opponent's guard with an underhook to stabilize the top position, Henrique teaches a way to pass the Half Guard with heavy crossface pressure. After breaking the opponent's Closed Guard, maintain sleeve control, slide over your sameside knee, and wrap your arm around his head and back for tight head control. Stabilize the top position by keeping your toes posted on the mat basing into the direction of a counter bridge. While driving your shoulder into his face, push your knee free through his half and clear space for it to drop down for the Mount by establishing the underhook. Free your ankle by crossfacing his head in the opposite direction, while jacking up on your underhook even farther until his inferiour spinal alignment weakens his hold on your foot.
