2 Part Technique - The Bow-N-Arrow Choke is a devastating submission you can add to your arsenal, and it all begins with your overhand grabbing the lapel of your opponent's gi from the Back. Your opponent will more than likely defend his neck by grabbing onto his own collar, where your hand needs to go; grab as far up as you can until you meet this temporary block. Pry off this hand that is in your way with your underhand, by way of 1on1 wrist control -immediately occupy the material he relinquishes with your choking hand, in effect, zippering up his jacket. Do this until you reach up far enough to the point where a swift tug on his collar will cross his lapel over his throat. Take out your underhand to 'Pez' back his forehead, revealing the area you need to target for the choke. Make sure to ball your hand into a fist while you hold his onto his Collar. Take your top hook out and cross it to the other side of his hips to avoid him trapping it in a half guard. Reach for his pant leg, gripping it at the knee, and then firmly yanking it close enough to hug with your non-choking arm. All that's left is for you to stretch him back, and wait for the tap. If you're at the stage where you need to cross his collar against throat but he won't let you pry off his hand with the 1on1 control from underneath, go over the top of his shoulder and palm his knuckles to rip off his grip. If he hides his knuckles, enter your hand into the gap formed by his arm and hitchhike your hand back to counter his defense.
