3 Part Technique - The best time to shoot for the double leg takedown is when the opponent isn't thinking to sprawl. If your opponent is looking to control your gi with Collar and Elbow control, perhaps to implement a judo throw, immediately remove his collar grip with both hands and yank away his grip on your elbow. His natural instinct is to recover what he lost, so use this moment to shoot under his attempt to re-establish the Collar and Elbow Control and hit the double leg. If the opponent isn't looking to control your gi, begin hand fighting until you can secure Double Wrist Control. Wait for him to try to free his hands from your grips for the right moment to attack his legs. If he sinks a guillotine choke around your neck as you land, remember to jump to the side opposite of the side the opponent has chosen to place your head under his armpit, and finish by establishing the side control.
