Foot Wipe Escape vs Side Control, Hip Roll Escape vs Side Control
2 Part Technique - When escaping side control, it is important to exert your energy in directions that do not directly oppose with either the mat or your opponent's dominant controls. If the opponent holds you down with Underhook and Head Control, channel your efforts in recovering closed guard by implementing your nearside arm and leg into executing the Foot Wipe Escape. If the opponent shuts you down from this option by controlling your nearside with a crossface and hip check, this leaves your farside open to bridge out and down into the hip roll escape back to closed guard.
