2 Part Technique - An opponent that relies on closed guard will feel desperate after its broken. Commonly, the opponent will reach behind your lead leg to Star Sweep. This reaction is a great opportunity for an easy crucifix entry if you push your leg through before the opponent starts standing.

So much gold here!  Great explanation of standing up once to determine the opponent's strategy, going back down, then standing again with your game plan in place.

Danno, the leg can be triangled in either direction, or sometimes even just ankles crossed with the thighs pinched, depending on what your goal is.  If you want to be able to attack with the straight armlock from the crucifix, the legs have to be triangled in the manner you described.  However, if you want to attack with a reverse omaplata, they have to be triangled the opposite way.  If you want to attack the neck, they can be any which way you choose, as long as you maintain upper body and arm control.

i thought that the during the crucifix the legs are always supposed to be triangled towards your opponents legs,  is there a reason it is different in this technique?
