Double Under Control vs Butterfly
Marcelo remarks on when to rest during a critical transition: When passing over your opponent's Butterfly-Guard with Double Under-Hooks (i.e. Body-Lock Pass, Double-Over Pass, Rugby-Pass, et al.), get up onto the balls of your feet and drive your shoulders into your opponent with active toes; aim to land your chest on top of your opponent's chest while maintaining a tight connection with your arms around their torso. If your opponent instigates a frame against your head and/or shoulders, pummel yourself around the blockage until you can find a clear path towards chest-to-chest connection. Don't take a break while still low on your opponent's hips; doing so will afford your opponent an opportunity to enact a strong set of frames and possibly put you back into a neutral or even defensive position. If you need to take a moment to recoup or calculate future tactics, do so from a position of advantage, e.g. High Double Under-Hooks with your opponent flattened out on their back.
