Advanced Lesson Part 3 of 3 -- Marcelo capitalizes on a brief window to take the Back from a Rear Waist-Lock: If your opponent is late to stand upright after you've successfully captured their hips from behind with a Standing Arm-Drag to Single-Leg, you have a quick chance to release your grip from the Back Body-Lock to go directly to Seat-Belt Control. However, if your opponent manages to grab onto your wrists quickly after coming up from all-fours, you will need to find a way to make them let go before approaching greater back control; use your lock around their waist to hoist them up into the air so that you can then bring them down abruptly towards the mat. If your opponent doesn't readily let go of your hands to find posts on the ground, they risk landing awkwardly onto their shoulders or even worse yet, their head. Although it certainly isn't our intention to injure our opponent with a mat-return, this technique generally elicits the protective response we are looking for to open up our opponent's defenses advance our back attack. The moment your opponent lets go of your Back Body-Lock, immediately look to jump up onto their back and fasten the Seat-Belt. Once attached, follow-up with setting your hooks inside for points and more secure control over the back position.
