Marcelo reminds his students how to properly prepare for his advanced class: Warming-up at the start of class is a requirement for participation in rounds of live-training; doing so well is a matter of safety. Students must be ready to match the intensity of the demands and commands asked of them while protecting themselves and others. Elevating your heart-rate, stretching out your muscles and joints, and increasing your breathe are all imperative aspects of performing at a high level. Practicing with mini-games and races that involve reacting quickly at the sound of a predetermined signal, with clearly defined start/finish-lines set in place, are great ways to develop skills as a team for reaching similar technical goals in jiu-jitsu.
