Hook Sweep from Half Guard
2 Part Lesson -- Marcelo cleverly pummels for his Underhook from Half Guard: If there's no room left to pummel your hand, lead instead with your elbow as you work to lay on your side. Don't let your opponent control your other arm, and shift your elbow through into an Underhook; insert a Butterfly Hook for the sweep once you've established the Underhook for your Half Guard. [04:48] If your opponent closes the distance before you can place your forearm behind their back with the Underhook, you may be able to construct a Frame by adjoining your arms together to force open enough space for the pummel. If you cannot frame, use your Half Guard and your arms to bump your opponent towards the side you need the Underhook. When your opponent posts to prevent the sweep, fence your arm around for the Underhook and work up onto your side.
