Collar Control from Standing > Ankle Pick > Single Leg > Double Leg
4 Part Lesson -- Marcelo imparts a jacket-based takedown series comprised of old-school judo and freestyle wrestling: Make a collar grip on your opponent while denying him or her a grip on your gi with either hand, use it to pull them forward and force a step into your shot; apply Kibisugaeshi to whichever leg is closest after you pull. Drive backwards over the supporting leg as you raise up the heel and finish the Ankle Pick. [02:09] If your opponent doesn't respond to frontward pulls from your Collar Grip, implement lateral movement by pulling them into a circular step. Execute a Swing Single around the leg opposite of your grip and drive them over with your forehead to the ground. [04:28] If you cannot finish the Swing Single off the shot, slide your Collar Grip down the lapel toward the end of the skirt and feed the tail-end through the legs to your outside hand for a Pumphandle Grip. If the opponent's leg comes up off the mat, finish the Single by Running-the-Pipe. If you cannot lift the leg, run across and grab the far leg for an Iranian Double-Leg Takedown aka Barzegar-Finish. [07:05] If you cannot readily attack the Single or Double, re-grab the Collar Grip after you've thread the lapel through the legs and off-balance the opponent in opposing circles for Kuchikitaoshi.
