3 Part Lesson -- If an adversary steps back to load up a hooking punch, step forward and fill the inside space with a frame that deflects the blow to the outside and allows you to close the distance for the clinch. Hide your shoulder under the opponent's armpit and execute a variation of the Tani-Otoshi technique. Line up your foot and extend your leg behind the opponent as you sit down and pull him or her backward to the mat. Take the mount position. [03:27] Switching roles, once mounted, block your opponent from posting with their arm and leg on the same side and bridge over to your knees. Your partner needs to place their palm facing toward you rather than posting on the mat to avoid finger and/or wrist damage when rolling. [10:17] Alternate methods of controlling the arm are discussed. Paul shows a basic sequence for breaking up and out of the Closed Guard and following with a Double Stack Pass into Side Control.
