2 Part Lesson — Marcelo shows his very first successful Take-Down, The Ankle Pick with Collar Control: [I] This particular type of Take-Down has a wide range of accommodating variations based upon the mix of you and your opponent's lateral preferences and somatypic size. Ward your opponent's advance by keeping distance with your arm attached to the opponent's jacket via Collar-Grip. Take a shot and grab your opponent's near shank/ankle/heel when within reach of your opposite free hand. Keep the Collar & Foot Grips to help tip the opponent backwards and drive their center of mass behind their base of support. [II] If you have found a particular angle, side, and stance to work your Ankle Pick, learn how to make your opponent walk forward into your technique as you pull backwards from your feet. Don't waste too much time setting up your preferred target leg; initiate the walk and pull to draw out the left or right step you need to shorten the distance for attack.
