2 Part Lesson — Marcelo teaches his students strategy for the Back against a skilled opponent: [I] An opportunity to find the opponent's neck open for attack arises when he initiates a Bridging Escape on the Weak-Side; however, if you begin to lose his shoulders and your Seatbelt is disconnected (thus disallowing your use of the bottom hook to come out and push off the mat), utilize a Horse-Collar Grip to yank the opponent back into your Seatbelt Control on the Strong-Side. [II] If your opponent uses your momentum against you and tries to escape from the Strong-Side, shift your hips and realign your hooks so that your opponent doesn't weaken your control over his legs.
