2 Part Lesson — Marcelo escapes out from underneath the North/South: [I] Bring your near-arm to the same side of your opponent's body that your head is on and look to make a grip on your opponent's triceps. Rock your legs to help sit up to your and then elbow while keeping your arm locked out straight against his triceps. Escape your hips until you can recompose your full guard. If your opponent binds your legs together, splay your feet apart and escape one leg to find the Crucifix or take the Back with Seatbelt Control. [II] Your opponent may try to turn back into you after you revert back to Side Control from North/South; track his near-arm and capture his triceps before he can turn back around to face you. If he holds your legs too tightly for you to escape to the Crucifix, whip your body belly-down and try a modified hip-toss. If he hangs on, take the reversal; if he lets go, at least escape back to your guard.
