2 Part Lesson — Marcelo explains the details behind making the finishing grip for the Bow-N-Arrow Choke: [I] Switch from holding 1on1 Wrist Control while laying on the Weakside to grabbing the bottom lapel; this leaves only your top hand to beat the defense of both of your opponent's hands. Although this is seemingly a disadvantage, the Back Control affords you multiple low-risk attempts to spam his neck for the choking grip. If you make it under the chin on the first grab, you can either play for the Katahajime or go to the Bow-N-Arrow. If you don't make it under his chin, take out your underhook and pull back his forehead to slip under and finish with the Bow-N-Arrow; don't go back under for the Kataha. [II] Try to consolidate your movements. Once you have the collar across his throat, don't waste time making micro adjustments toward the finish. Instead, swing your body into the choking position. If your opponent is strong and fending off the strangle by pulling on your choking arm, use your outside leg to scrape off his arm.
