Marcelo does not use many foot locks, although you will sometimes see him do a killer cross straight ankle/foot lock. They don't fit into his overall philosophy of jiu-jitsu. I'm pretty sure his opinion is rare in that case, but he mostly likes to focus both arms on the neck, rather than attacking a more powerful limb like the leg. His words, not mine. He does have a beautiful heel hook win at ADCC 2005 though.

I think his thoughts are that he doesn't really like them. Any sub that doesn't work as well on bigger guys he's not a fan of. Footlocks, arm in chokes, kimuras etc..
But I'm sure in comp he uses them if they're there (Rico Rodriguez Heel Hook and Leo Veira traingle come to mind)
