Circle vs Hip Roll Escape
3 Part Lesson — Marcelo counters the "Granby" Guard Recovery: [I] If your opponent offers his back to counter your pass with a "Granby Roll" maneuver (rolling shoulder to shoulder; resetting the hips), deepen your Underhook, sit-out, and run around his roll before he lands on top of you or kicks you away. [II] If he sits up before you can hold him down in Side Control after running around, reach up and grab his back, pulling it back down to the mat. Otherwise, your opponent may anticipate your Back Control attempt and counter it before you can keep it. [III] If he starts to roll away again as you try to pin him flat, throw your chest on top of his chest to help keep him back down and away from turning or rolling.
