2 Part Lesson — Paul explains the Standing Step Pass versus Open Guard to Knee-On-Belly to Side Control: [I] Step outside of your opponent's leg to place him down in an Open Half Guard Position, keeping his back flat on the mat with your hand on his stomach and your fingers pointed toward the underhook. Push his knee down as you kick your leg backward, quickly reinserting your leg back down and across his stomach for Knee-On-Belly. Try not to take too many steps when adjusting your weight on his belly. [II] Fence your way past the opponent's frames and take your knee off of his body when you fall down to the mat and lock up Underhook & Head Control for the Side Mount.
