3 Part Lesson — Marcelo shares a masterful sequence for taking down or sweeping his opponent: [I] If your opponent doesn't offer to engage his hands in the grip-fight, don't chase after them and expose yourself to a surprise attack; instead, reach high for his face and make your cross-grip off of his parry for 2on1 Control. Immediately, sit down with the 2on1 to pull guard and utilize his yanking reaction to set-up the Pega-Paulista/Push-Kick Sweep. [II] If your opponent escapes one of his legs from the Push-Kick Sweep, take note of which leg he leaves behind for base and apply the sweep a second time from the Seated Guard. As he escapes his leg, tackle the opposite with a Single Leg Takedown. [III] If your opponent doesn't yank away out of the 2on1 and tries to pass despite your control, press the 2on1 into his chest and turn over onto your knees for the Single.
