2on1 from Standing, Guard Pull from Standing, Hand Fighting from Standing
2 Part Lesson — Marcelo explains the importance of entering your ground game with dominant hand control; namely, the 2on1: [I] Whether you plan on attacking with Cross Guard, 1Leg X-Guard, De-La-Riva Guard, or Deep Half Guard, preface your entry with a strong offensive control over your opponent's arm. This is best accomplished by forming the 2on1; capture the opponent's cross sleeve and form a pistol grip with the material. Other grips may work just as well, however, the pistol grip has proven to be less injurious if broken harshly. [II] Catching the 2on1 normally takes a bit of ingenuity against a wily opponent; if you cannot capture Double Wrist Control, opt to seize his sleeve after breaking one of his own grips, be it a sleeve or collar grip.
