Nearside Armbar from Side Control, Side Control to Back
2 Part Technique — Paul teaches his class a Nearside Armbar that is particularly simple, yet effective against opponents who are keeping themselves well protected from attack. Form a Cross-Elbow Grip to rock the opponent up onto his side, and scoop up his nearside wrist with your other free hand. Next, tuck your leg against his back while stepping over the face to sit back with the Armbar. If the wrist isn't available, nor is the N/S Choke, reach around his back and catch the far leave. Then, commit your legs to the same footwork as for the Armlock, but reversed, allowing you to roll him onto your hook and take his back.
