3 Part Technique - Standing up is the best way to break the Closed Guard. Control his collars, pin his hip down, and stand up to your feet at an angle to uncross his ankles off your back. Once open, use your posture to protect your hips from his feet and pin his knee down with your weight through your arm for the Circle Pass. If he tries to unpin his leg by pulling off your arm, simply replace your hand with your shin and continue passing with a Knee Inside Pass.
