2 Part Drill - The key to gaining the High Guard from Closed Guard is to find a way to cross your opponent's elbow into center-line long enough to climb up onto his shoulder. This can be effectively accomplished in two ways: one can either hold the cross-elbow and sleeve to pull the arm across, or one could utilize a 2on1 to perform the same action. Practice both.
