Breaking Gi Grips from Standing
2 Part Technique - A taller opponent grabbing behind your Gi is more controlling and harder to break than if he were to only grab your collar. Create distance using a frame, which pulls your Gi upwards for an easier break. Immediately break the back grip before the opponent can close the distance again. If the opponent controls at your sleeve, use your knee to force a break. The opponent's control at your back may change to your side, so twist to knock away instead.
