2 Part Lesson — Marcelo shows three simple yet effective wrestling-style takedowns with the Gi: [I] Setting up a Single Leg is often best accomplished with a Collar Grip; keep your opponent busy with the grip, i.e. ward off his attempt to grab your jacket with your elbow and continually push and pull him off balance before taking your shot. Once in on the single, take advantage of the Gi by passing his lapel/skirt between his legs for the Pumphandle Grip. [II] If you manage to lose control of the Single before you can Run-The-Pipe, maintain the Pumphandle and switch off for the far pant leg. Run over the opponent laterally with the Knee Pick, and land heavily to establish the top position. [III] If your opponent is using his far hand to push you away from the finish, snatch his collar or sleeve and spin him down the mat.
